**Additional clothing refs at the bottom. I had to use some video game screencaps due to the short notice, so pay no attention to the physical appearances of the characters. Sorry about that.
Name: Laira
Race: Fey
Gender: Female
Age: Though she resembles a girl in her late teens or early twenties, she s substantially older.
Height and Build: Petite, she stands barely 5' 2". The fairie in her blood has given her a sprite-like figure with a narrow waist, small breasts and few defined curves. Ethereally pale, her complexion is flawless; her facial structure, delicate and doll-like.
Hair color/style: Laira has so much hair that people often wonder how she manages to keep it so well-maintained. Cherry-black with plum and burgundy highlights, it falls to her waist in thick, wild curls that never fail to look perfect. She seldom ties it back and refuses to wear it in the conservative updos that are the societal standard -- and has no problem smiling at the expressions of scorn that her refusal to conform earns.
Eye color: Deep green with lighter highlights. She has large, wide child-like eyes that give her face a look of curiosity at all times.
Other Identifying Marks: She has a series of tattoos on her arms that extend onto her back. They run from just above her wrist almost to her shoulders and are of frost-colored vines with small, icy blooms at random intervals. The blooms resemble tiger lilies in appearance, except that they are pale blue. At the small of her back, all the vines come together. Here, there are three large lilies that all the vines extend from. (The pic above was from when she still thought the flowers were going to be of a summery variety. The design is the same, only the colors are different.)
Personality / Special Abilities / Relationships with the other Characters: Through her own misfortune, Laira was forced to abandon her original role as an ice fairy after she was tricked into the servitude of a wealthy family. Though she has been forced to make peace with her new life as a polite, meek and invisible member of the household staff, she still retains her wit, rebellious nature, and a tiny dose of her magic, all of which she uses to her advantage. She meets Gnaeus during a dinner party, after he saves her from being humiliation at her masters' hands by asking her for a very public dance; but she refuses to allow him to play the role of her knight in shining armor. Mostly, this is because she's in love with Silas, the illegitimate son of the lady of the manor. Though she sees him seldom (he tries to stay as far away from manor life as possible), she is fiercely protective of him, and devoted to him -- and, regrettably, acutely aware that he will probably never look upon her as anything more than a friend.
Name: Gnaeus "Ny" Ferlae
Race: Human, with a trace of Fey blood passed down from generations ago.
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Height and Build: A little under 6', with a Meditteranean complexion; in shape and very buff. He is incredibly conscious of his physical appearance, and works hard to maintain it. He is a member of his country's military, on the front lines of a war that has been waged for so long that no one can remember how it started, so being in shape and agile are key to keeping him alive and in one piece.
Hair color/style: Dark brown to black, the kind of dark color that gives off white highlights. He wears it short and always neatly-trimmed, with a little bit of gel to give it a few spikes.
Eye color: Amber-brown, with dark, almost feminine lashes.
Personality / Special Abilities / Relationships with the other Characters: Gnaeus had made a career out of being charming, and is never without a flirtatious expression or a roguish grin. He is handsome, with the kind of dark-lidded eyes and classical features that are a throwback to the male stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood. He knows he is beautiful and he knows that because of this he's expected not to be extremely bright. He's content to play the charmer and the fool. He is also almost perpetually inebriated. If there is a bottle of wine or merlot to be found, he will be casually drinking from it. He is almost never without a wineglass in his hand. He is hopelessly in love with Laira -- just as he has been hopelessly in love with all the women he's encountered before her. Though he is aware of her feelings for Silas (feelings she has never admitted), he also harbors a brotherly affection for his competition. He and Silas are constantly trying to one-up or outshine each other. Their petty competitions are a source of both amusement and annoyance to Laira.
Name: Silas Incanto
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Height and Build: A few inches shorter than Gnaeus and a little stockier. An average guy who doesn't go out of his way to draw attention to himself with his looks but who by no means lets himself go.
Hair color/style: Honey blonde with lighter highlights, very thick and slightly wavy. Cut shaggy and in layers, it has a sufer-esque carelessness to its style. The longer of the layers almost reach his shoulders, while the shorter ones brush the tops of his ears. He has thick bangs that often fall across his forehead and partially conceal his eyes.
Eye color: Pale blue-grey.
Personality / Special Abilities / Relationships with the other Characters: The oldest of six children born to a noble family, Silas has the misfortune of being his mother's bastard son. Shunned by her husband and ridiculed by his legitimate siblings. Forced to stay at the manor until his pre-teens, when his younger half-brother was named the family's official heir, he was grateful when he was thrown out. Silas took up with his father, a traveling musician, and learned to love the bohemian lifestyle that came from constant moving, making music and acting. He has become a carefree spirit, very easy-going and not one to start a conflict. He also began to learn magic and became an apprentice wizard. Still, when he is forced into the constant company of Gnaeus after a failed revolution throws his life into peril, he is wary of his new traveling companion and equally determined to prove he can handle himself without the need of anyone's protection. It irks Ny's pride that Silas quickly proves himself to be fully capable of doing so, and he is jealous to Silas's ability to work magic. Because of this, Silas is frequently seen conjuring little glowing orbs of light just for the sake of annoying his companyion. He worries that Laira, who is one of his few true friends, will end up falling for what he sees as Ny's empty flirtations; but is oblivious to his own (growing) romantic feeling for her.
